Cleft Palate Surgery

What is Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate?

Children born with these deformities often face a series of health issues that adversely affect their nourishment, hearing, and speech development. The birth of a child with a facial deformity also has a psychological impact on parents whose disappointment is palpable.

Orofacial clefts are a birth defect that affects one in 700 babies.

A Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate can affect a child’s psychosocial growth if left untreated.  Though these deformities can be diagnosed during an ultrasound exam, mothers from lower socio-economic sectors struggle to opt for a utero cleft palate repair.

We at Mendonsa Foundation are determined to help such mothers and their children through a post-birth palatoplasty before the baby’s first birthday.

The organization has an ongoing tie-up with MGM Hospital and has brought celebrated paediatric, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Ashok Johari on board to spearhead the campaign.

It takes no more than 45 minutes and costs INR 21,000/- only.

Your meaningful contribution can transform a child’s perpetual struggle with self-esteem into a beautiful, ever-lasting smile.
